Welcome,
My name is April Bergin (she/her) and I am a qualified and accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist.

I completed my training with PCI College and have a BSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I also hold a BA in Psychology which I received from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

My approach to counselling is the person-centered approach, which means I work in a non-judgemental, empathetic, genuine way and believe that we all have the capacity to make the changes that we want to make. I also utilize tools from the approaches of CBT, Gestalt, and Ecotherapy as they are needed. I describe my work as integrative in that that the goals of therapy for clients often centre around integrating all parts of one’s personality and self (emotions, cognitions, physiology, and behaviour) in order to facilitate wholeness.

I am an accredited member with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) as well as a member of the Ecotherapy Network Ireland.

I am also certified in Crisis Intervention Stress Management (CISM) with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).

I provide individual face to face sessions, as well as telephone counselling and online sessions.

If you have any further questions, or wish to contact me to book a session, please contact me at 087 968 4940.

  1. Hi,

Do you do couples counseling. I am having a tough time in my marriage and think we would benefit from some help.

    • Hello, thanks for getting in touch. No, unfortunately I do not do couples counselling. Have you checked the IACP (iacp.ie) or IAHIP (iahip.org) websites? They both have directories of qualified and accredited counsellors and you can search by type of counselling and also by county. You could also try the Gottman Institute Ireland website (gottmanreferralnetwork.com), they specialise in couples counselling and have a directory of counsellors with profiles and information. As with anything, shop around to make sure you find a counsellor who is a good fit. Best of luck.
