My name is April Bergin and I am a qualified and accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist.
I completed my training with PCI College and have a BSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I also hold a BA in Psychology which I received from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
My approach to counselling is the person-centered approach, which means I work in a non-judgemental, empathetic, genuine way and believe that we all have the capacity to make the changes that we want to make. I also utilize tools from the approaches of CBT, Gestalt, and Ecotherapy as they are needed. I describe my work as integrative in that that the goals of therapy for clients often centre around integrating all parts of one’s personality and self (emotions, cognitions, physiology, and behaviour) in order to facilitate wholeness.
I am an accredited member with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) as well as a member of the Ecopsychology & Ecotherapy Association of Ireland (EEAI).
I am also certified in Crisis Intervention Stress Management (CISM) with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF).
I provide individual face to face sessions, as well as telephone counselling and online sessions.
